About Jo Roca-Tuazon

First Step Recovery Center screens all clients for childhood trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Under the supervision of our Clinical Director Jo Roca-Tuazon, LMFT, and our team of physicians who specialize in Addiction Medicine and Addiction Psychiatry, each client will receive an individual treatment program which is informed by these underlying issues that will so often sabotage Recovery, if not they are not addressed with honesty in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Jo Roca-Tuazon became interested in the treatment of addiction after witnessing the disease ravage the lives of her own family members through many generations. Her interest was further increased while working with abused children and their families and perceiving the exponential increase of adverse effects of addiction on the person, especially when correlated with trauma.

Jo brings over 20 years’ experience providing mental health counseling and psychotherapy to clients of all ages, ranging from young children through senior citizens, and she assists them in restoring healthy functioning to their lives, and in maximizing their capacity to achieve set goals. Her therapeutic practice provides trauma-informed therapy, especially in cases of child abuse and molestation, with skills including play therapy, art therapy, and sand tray therapy.
